The Department of Emergency Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center (WCMC) is looking for full-time emergency medicine physician assistants (PAs). PAs work at both our WCMC location on the Upper East Side and at our partner hospital, NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan (NYP-LM) Hospital.

The Physician Assistant Job Duties and Responsibilities Include:
  • Providing direct patient care for Adult patients arriving in the Emergency Department
  • Obtaining clinical histories, performing physical examinations, recording physical findings and formulating a plan based on patient's condition
  • Performing emergent/urgent procedures such as splinting, suturing, incision and drainage, central venous catheters, moderate sedation, intubations as approved by privileges granted

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Certification from the National Commission of Physician Assistants, Inc
  • New York State Physician Assistant License & Registration
  • ACLS certification, PALS certification, BLS certification, issued by the American Heart Association
A minimum of two years experience in emergency medicine is preferred (will consider applicants with two years of critical care experience). We offer enormous growth potential through working with our EM APP residents, ultrasound faculty and our sexual assault and elder abuse teams.

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Weill Cornell remains committed to enhancing patient care through an emphasis on operational effectiveness, excellence in quality and safety, and enhancing the overall patient journey. With over 100 faculty members (including Adult and Pediatrics), 40 physician assistants and nurse practitioners, and 66 residents delivering around- the-clock emergency care, the department anticipates treating around 85,000 patients at the NYP-WCM ED and 40,000 at the NYP-LMH ED this year. We are a busy, Level 1 Trauma, Stroke and Burn center.

Salary
Minimum: $128,400
Maximum: $160,000

Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to internal equity, specialty, training, and hospital/community needs.
