Requisition Number: R-13951 Facility: LOC0020 - 143 Longwater Norwell143 Longwater Drive Norwell, MA 02061 Department Name: SMC Pediatrics PB Status: Full time Budgeted Hours: 40 Shift: Day/Eve Rotation (United States of America) Under the general direction of the Medical Director of Ambulatory Care, the Department Chief, Ambulatory will further the engagement and coordination of the department physicians, APCs, nursing and staff and provide leadership, organization and direction for shaping team culture. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Administrative Reporting a. The Departmental Chief reports directly to the Medical Director of the Ambulatory Care Division of South Shore Health System who, in turn, reports to the CEO regarding all aspects of care within the department. b. Formal reporting on matters relevant to the quality of departmental medical care occurs through biweekly meetings. 2. Oversight of Departmental Quality, Safety and Growth a. Embrace and further the engagement and coordination of physicians, APCs, nursing and staff. b. Provides leadership, organization and direction for shaping team culture. c. Endorse and lead department wide practice improvement initiatives along with operations and nursing. d. Review patient satisfaction reports for the department and address areas for improvement addressed with specific action plans. e. Establish, track and develop continuous improvement strategies for clinical quality and access goals. These include but are not limited to: HEDIS and insurance product performance measures, readmission rates, and CG-CAHPS. f. Establish protocols and best practices for the adult population working collaboratively with other departments' clinical and operational leaders. g. Lead continued growth of the department through the recruitment and integration of new physicians and APCs. 3. Departmental Leadership a. Set agenda and run departmental meetings (monthly) with all providers and operational and nursing leaders. b. Weekly meetings with departmental operations and nursing. c. Ensure adequate departmental coverage at all times, managing vacation and schedules conflicts. d. Ensures that all clinical providers within the department are meeting the clinical and operation standards set forth by SSMC and the Medical Director. 4. Clinical Responsibilities a. The ideal candidate would be a full-time physician with at least 4 days/week presence within the department. The candidate would have 2 sessions/week allocated for Chief administrative responsibilities. JOB REQUIREMENTS Education MD or DO Work Experience: 1-3 years of experience in a managerial/leadership position and a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in a primary care setting. Required License/Certifications Currently licensed as a physician in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Board Certified in Massachusetts in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Prescription privileges: Massachusetts State CDL; Federal DEA BLS certification Schedule: Typically Monday through Friday 8:00a-5:00p, one evening session per week, 16 weekend shifts (8 weekends) and one holiday per year Responsibilities if Required: Education if Required: License/Registration/Certification Requirements: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) (Including courses offered through SSH), Physician/Hospitalist - Board of Registration in Medicine (Massachusetts)
