Position Summary This position is responsible for performing all aspects of dental hygiene practice, including: dental prophylaxis, scaling, root planning, oral screenings, topical fluoride applications, and making radiographs. This position will also provide dental health education on an individual or group basis and perform the care and maintenance of dental equipment, provision of infection control procedures, proper disposal of biohazards within the dental operatory, documenting services provided in the patient's dental record, and assistance in completion and submission of monthly and annual dental activity reports. This position may be responsible to serve more than one correctional facility. Salary Information This position is in pay schedule and range 06-63 and offers pay starting from $35.00/hour - $41.54/hour. Pay rates on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. Remote work options not available for these positions. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt. A twelve-month probationary period is required. Some schedule flexibility available. Job Details Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application. The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Qualifications SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must possess current Wisconsin licensure as a Dental Hygienist or be licensed in another state and be eligible to obtain Wisconsin licensure by time of appointment. Must maintain CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) & AED (Automated External Defibrillator) certification during employment and have the ability to perform CPR and/or first aid to prevent loss of life and relieve suffering until appropriate care arrives. Candidates will also benefit from: Current knowledge of the theory, principles and practice of dental hygiene. Current knowledge of OSHA regulations and CDC guidelines as related to the practice of dental hygiene. Skill and ability in performing the required dental hygiene procedures. Ability to function effectively in a correctional health setting and with inmate patients. Knowledge of ethical standards of dental hygiene practice. Knowledge of dental hygiene materials, instruments and equipment. General knowledge of dental business office procedures related to dental hygiene.
