Adventist Health Clear Lake is a 25-bed, critical access hospital serving Lake, Butte & Tehama Counties with key service areas including rural health clinics that provide urgent care, behavioral health, cancer, dental, family medicine, OB/GYN, pediatrics, neurology, orthopedic and pain management to name a few. This is a grant-funded position and is temporary up to June 2024. Notwithstanding, Adventist Health does not guarantee employment for any specific term and is subject to Adventist Health's at-will employment policy. Job Summary: Provides oral hygiene and preventive services to dental patients. Evaluates and assesses provision of services. Performs procedures safely in compliance with regulations under the direction of a dentist. Prepares materials and equipment for treatment and has them ready for dentist's use. Job Requirements: Education and Work Experience: Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor's): Preferred Licenses/Certifications: Dental Hygienist licensure in the state of practice: Required Radiation Safety Certificate: Required Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required Licensed Dental Hygienist (RDH): Required Essential Functions: Conducts patient screening procedures; such as assessment of oral health conditions, review of the health history, oral cancer screening, head and neck inspection, dental charting and taking blood pressure and pulse. Takes and develop dental radiographs (x-rays). Removes calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth. Applies preventive materials to the teeth (e.g., sealants and fluorides). Teaches patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling). Counsels patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health. Makes impressions of patients' teeth for study casts (models of teeth used by dentists to evaluate patient treatment needs). Prepares patients for services, documents procedures and assists with other office management activities, i.e., scheduling patients, as needed. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
