The Deaf Support Specialist position is responsible for coordinating independent living skills training and job readiness training for appropriate consumers; coordinating accessibility to career center services for consumers who are deaf or hard of hearing; assisting in job placement as requested by the Rehabilitation Counselor for the deaf and hard of hearing; assisting Rehabilitation Counselor for the deaf and hard of hearing with intakes and other casework, as requested; providing on-the-job training, job coaching, job analysis and/or technical support in job accommodations as requested by the Rehabilitation Counselor for the deaf and hard of hearing; providing post-employment follow up for consumers as requested by the Rehabilitation Counselor for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing; producing and maintaining current documentation of services provided which may include case progress reports and other reports requested by the Rehabilitation Counselor for the deaf and hard of hearing; addressing support services needs of participants to promote employment success, including referral to other agencies and programs; relating in a positive manner with the deaf community and disability-related groups and organizations to stay informed of relevant issues and to maintain cooperative relationships; and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
