POSITION SUMMARY Catholic Charities Day Program provides a self-directed community integration program that promotes self-advocacy and a lifestyle of learning. Each individual in our program possesses a unique potential; a potential to create, grow, learn, and adapt. The Day Program Supervisor uses person-centered thinking to establish a lasting relationship with each individual as they successfully integrate into their community. The Day Program Supervisor develops and implements program procedures, systems and plans to ensure a safe predictable environment that meets the physical emotional and developmental needs of the individuals attending the Day Program. The Day Program Supervisor assists the Day Program Manager in the following areas: delegating routine or specific responsibilities to staff; scheduling of staff and ensuring maintenance of adequate staffing coverage; monitoring compliance with state and Agency policies and procedures; participating in new staff orientation; supervising direct support staff, substitutes and volunteers. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure safety of clients and staff in the program at all times. Responsible for creating a positive program environment that supports quality services for clients. Complete regular inspections of the program to ensure all rooms are neat, clean and has the appropriate supplies to meet clients' needs. Supervise the administration of medication according to program, Agency and state regulatory procedures including the recording of medication name, dosage, and time of dispensation on medication sheets. Provide crisis management with clients if needed Report seizures, behavioral episodes, injury or illness, client concerns, and/or other medically or emotionally related problems to the program manager, supervisor, nurse and team members. Reports suspected allegation of abuse/neglect to the Abuse Investigation Division immediately. Participate in the Interdisciplinary team process. This includes attendance at team meetings and the preparation of annual and quarterly reviews. This includes the accumulation and monitoring of data relevant to behavioral programming, reviewing individual's' progress, developmental needs and barriers impeding growth. Provide direct care to clients when needed. Provide training and supervision to staff and individuals in the following areas; counseling that will assist individuals to adapt to social, emotional and physical requirements of daily living; the use of community based social groups, etc.; the planning of and participation in leisure time, recreational activities and special social occasions; the cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of program, outside grounds, and vehicles; the monitoring of health and safety matters (i.e., follow up with nursing, recreation, fire drills, etc.) and other duties related to the direct support of the individuals. Participate in monthly management meeting required of all managers and supervisors. Ensure all client data is recorded accurately in client record in Therap and all program documentation is competed on time Report any incidents or evidence of abuse or violation of residents' rights to Administrator and appropriate agencies immediately. Participate in staff scheduling, review of time and attendance, corrective action, performance management tasks including overall supervision of staff. Assists with overall quality assurance and ensures successful DDS Quality Service Audits Assists with transportation of clients. Oversight of client funds, documentation requirements, community relations. Administer medication as needed Receives supervision from Day Program Manager. Additional duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree preferred. Associates degree and two years' experience with individuals with developmental disabilities - or - High school graduate and three years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities required Demonstration of strong organizational skills Demonstration of excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities The day program supervisor works in both indoor and outdoor settings. Frequent lifting and/or carrying objects/individuals up to 65 plus pounds is required. Standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, balancing, walking, running, pushing, pulling, and traveling may be required. Must be able to successfully complete Physical Management Training (PMT) restraint training course. Must have the ability to safely perform physical restraints as needed for safety Applicants will be subject to criminal and driving history background checks. Must have a valid Connecticut driver's license with no more than two violations in a three-year period, subject to review. Drivers History completed annually Candidate must possess a valid Connecticut Driver's License. Must have Medication Administration Certification or must be able to obtain Medication Administration Certification upon the next available Med Admin Certification Course immediately following hire.
