Title: Datacenter Facilities Operations Manager

Location: Memphis, TN

SUMMARY:
Our direct client is looking for an Engineering Manager to operate and maintain the facility systems serving supercomputing datacenter builds. This is a hands-on, people leadership role with responsibilities including maintenance, operations, and repair of facilities as they pertain to all MEP Systems and leading a team of Engineering Technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide operational expertise for Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems at the datacenter facility. The systems and equipment can include pumps, piping, chillers, cooling towers, CRAH units, wiring, lighting systems, generators, motors, water supply, UPS and switchgear, etc

Routinely inspect all areas to ensure performance measures are being maintained and proactively self-reporting the problems of facilities.

Experience with writing and executing MOPs, SOPs, EOPs

Develop preventative maintenance plans. Drive the execution of both preventative and emergency maintenance for facility equipment.

Perform daily inspections of critical systems.

Identify and maintain spare parts inventory to minimize downtime.

Coordinate and supervise scheduled system shutdowns.

Develop and implement energy monitoring metrics.

Support commissioning efforts by witnessing equipment startup, assisting with functional testing, and monitoring construction progress.

Develop annual major maintenance calendar.

Develop spare parts list/plan using a combination of onsite storage and vendor provided contracts.

Establish contracts with major vendors to support recurring maintenance of major electrical/mechanical equipment.

Final sign off of all maintenance procedures (MOP/SOP/EOPs)

Incident management protocols

RCAR coordination with vendors/engineering

Develop operational handbook for the site.

Staffing - now and future

Coordinate recurring meetings with offsite teams including engineering.

Develop metering/billing plan and coordinate rounds to track utility consumption and PUE.

Familiar with EPMS/Client/DCIM systems typical for data center management and how to interpret alarms.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Relevant experience acceptable in lieu of degree.)

8+ years of hands-on operations or facilities work experience. (Data center experience is preferred).

Knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering principles and systems. (Both would be a huge plus.)

Experience and knowledge of all critical systems documentation including Plans, Procedures and Operations Manuals

Experience and knowledge of critical environment including Utility Systems, UPS Systems, Emergency Generator Systems, Electrical Distribution, Chilled Water Systems, Critical Air Handling / Conditioning Systems, Pre-Action Systems and Fire Alarm / Protection Systems

Experience and knowledge of Building and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems and Operations

Strong troubleshooting skills

Experience with PLC-based control systems and/or with Building Management Systems (Client)

Excellent written and verbal communication and technical writing skills in English Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to utilize hand tools and power tools as needed.

Available to work different shifts providing 24x7 coverage.
