Title: Data Governance Specialist

Location: Daytona Beach, FL - Hybrid (3-5 days in a month onsite required)

Duration: 6+ Months

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct workshops to assess current governance structures, roles, decision-making processes, data management practices, data assets, data exchange capabilities across systems and data-related risks.
  • Develop and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure the integrity, availability, and security of organizational data.
  • Define data governance roles and responsibilities and establish accountability across departments and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with business units to identify critical data elements, establish data ownership, and define data quality standards and metrics.
  • Design and implement data classification schemes and access controls to protect sensitive and confidential information.
  • Establish data stewardship programs and workflows to facilitate data governance activities, including data profiling, cleansing, and remediation.
  • Conduct data risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate data-related risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).
  • Develop data governance training programs and materials to educate employees on data governance principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor and evaluate data governance processes and controls to identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement data governance tools and technologies to support data management activities, such as data lineage, metadata management, and data cataloging.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in data governance and data management.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in data governance, data management, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to data protection and privacy.
  • Experience developing and implementing data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Knowledge of data management tools and technologies, such as data catalogs, metadata management tools, and data quality tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Data governance certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional, Certified Information Management Professional) are a plus.
