About Soldier Hollow

Soldier Hollow Nordic Center is home to a state-of-the-art biathlon range that was used for the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympic Games. The facility also features a 31-kilometer trail system for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter, as well as mountain biking and hiking in the summer. It is a dynamic multi-use facility focused on developing and growing participation in winter sports in Utah. About the role

Under supervision of the Venue Operations Manager, the building Custodian Technician performs all tasks related to cleaning and maintaining the building and grounds of a premier wedding venue, sports training complex, and lodge at a year-round mountain resort. Passion for organization, cleanliness, time management, and daily prioritizing of tasks is a must. Must be in constant collaboration with the venue management team and be aware of upcoming scheduled weddings, sporting events, and daily community use patterns. Will work in collaboration with additional building maintenance staff, grounds keepers, guests, customers, and venue management daily.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

Cleaning
  • General facility cleaning
  • Vacuuming, sweeping and mopping flooring and stairs
  • Clean and sanitize bathrooms before, during, and after major events and on a daily basis as needed
  • Empty all trash cans and replace liners
  • Cleaning of windowsills and interior/exterior windows
  • Snow and ice removal from walkways/decks with shovel and snowblower
  • Follow cleaning schedules for daily, weekly, and special events
  • Order and maintain janitorial equipment in a clean, safe operable condition
  • Follow all safety programs and OSHA guidelines
  • Special event cleaning may be asked to work late and weekend hours
  • Assist with all grounds keeping (trash and litter removal)
  • Ensure building repairs are completed in a timely manner to comply with safety standards
  • HVAC supervision and maintenance of air filters and vents
  • Managing upkeep of building safety equipment for fire safety
  • Laundering and washing of various textiles covers, carpets, and mats

Wedding Event Custodial Responsibilities:
  • Anticipate upcoming event needs and appropriate timing of deployment of tables and chairs, ensuring timely cleaning and maintenance repairs, upkeep and of rental space to ensure customer satisfaction. Use patterns vary throughout the season, but there may be two or more weddings per weekend.
  • Set up of tables and chairs to the standards of the event coordinator
  • Provide setup of banquet tables
  • Ensure restrooms and ancillary event spaces are kept meticulously clean for wedding party
  • Provide exceptional customer service and act as a point of contact for housekeeping issues
  • Ensure all exterior walkways and decks are pristine, clear of dirt or snow/ice
  • Additional duties as requested by supervisor for flawless customer experience

Sporting/Community Event Custodial Responsibilities:
  • Ensure open access to appropriate buildings and services per user agreement
  • Cleaning of bathrooms and waste management consistent with the volume of use
  • Maintain open communication with vendors and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Monitor use patterns and adjust cleaning patterns accordingly

Other:
  • Complete all required in-house training.
  • All other job responsibilities as assigned.

Candidate requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Janitorial or property management experience desired
  • Flexible work schedule may need to work late and weekend hours.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all temperature/weather extremes.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Hearing - to converse with other is a normal conversation.
  • Balancing, bending, climbing, kneeling, walking, pushing, reaching above shoulders, and sitting.
  • May need to wear the following protective equipment: safety glasses, hearing protection, masks or face shields.
  • Safety shoes/boots and gloves are not provided by employer.
