This part-time position begins in January, 2024. The schedule is 2:30 pm - 8:00 pm. Serves 50 students at the Kingswood School. Flexible schedule.

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE

The CTE Business Teacher for the Pathway Promise Program (P3) is responsible for organizing and implementing a career & technical instructional program focused on business education and marketing concepts for students attending the dropout prevention program and meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in law and policy. The program serves students in need of credits towards graduation in a non-traditional setting. The P3 program serves marginalized and vulnerable students who may be experiencing homelessness, be at-risk of dropping out, have attendance concerns, need to work to support a family, or be experiencing other barriers to graduation. This position is part-time for the 2023-24 school year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop lesson plans related to business and marketing content areas and provide instruction for application in consumer and career settings. Concepts include business, finance, management, entrepreneurship, and marketing in a global economy.
  • Develop lesson plans in the application of Microsoft Imagine Academy products (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access) and computer science.
  • Supervise and work directly with students in classroom laboratory using appropriate digital resources to learn and reinforce business concepts.
  • Assist students in the development of activities designed to promote innovative business, entrepreneurship, and financial programs.
  • Provide normal maintenance of the lab machines and ensure that the inventory of materials and supplies is up to date and available for student instruction.
  • Utilize classroom management techniques conducive to an effective classroom
  • Use appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance critical, creative, and innovative thinking capabilities of students.
  • Monitor compliance for the district acceptable use policy for Internet and computer usage and develop positive digital citizenship.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of current business education content and instructional methods, resources, software, and technology
  • Knowledge and ability to use appropriate technology and software for application in a lab setting
  • Knowledge of NC CTE (Career and Technical Education) Essential Standards
  • Proficiency in common desktop applications (web browsing, word processing, presentations, image editing, etc.)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Education Content Area (Accounting, Business Administration, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Finance)
  • Minimum: Two years' work experience within the past five years in a related field
  • Preferred: Two years' experience teaching content area or related industry work within the past five years
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
  • Must hold or be eligible to hold a 760 Business, Finance, and Information Technology license
  • Preferred: Microsoft Imagine Academy certifications
  • Preferred: Multilingual
