We heard you knock. Primary Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to custom cut sills and extenders while safely maintaining acceptable production levels; minimize down time of trim saws through efficient saw operation and assure all quality checks are completed. Job Duties: Level 3 & 4 Maintain effective communication with CTD-Trim Saw Operators assuring saw is set up correctly including length, hold down and fence position. Complete product and component knowledge for Site 2000 Eliminate down time when feeding and running the saw at acceptable rate that is not so fast that the productivity is reduced. Proper use of roller carts and buggies to eliminate down time. Maintain excellent housekeeping and organizational habits, to include the safe clean up of the saw at the end of the shift. This should be accomplished without interfering with production time. Clean up should begin no sooner than 10 minutes before the end of the shift unless coordinated by the cell leader. Properly follow all Safety related procedures such as the proper use of safety glasses and hearing protection (muffs all day) and Lock Out/Tag Out Procedures Report all Safety related issues and all machine breakdowns to the supervisor Meet minimum production requirements of averaging 1800 sills cut a shift. Knowledge of cut list and spec sheets Proper rotation between feeding and catching at lunch/meal breaks Perform all quality checks to ensure proper material, handwritten tag information, size, spec sizes, squareness, appearance, chipping, cracking, boxing quality and stacking quality on all materials Knowledge of tape machine set up Level 5 Identify causes of down time and bottlenecks to eliminate Back up responsibilities may include Drill, Cover/Gasket, and Packing area. Work effectively with the Shipping Supervisor and Cell Leaders to resolve all equipment and material related issues Average 1800 sills cut per shift. Excellent communication on the daily cut list and timing of materials with the cell leaders Detailed working knowledge of the daily cut list and its proper use and minimize cutting mistakes. Be prepared to be a team player and work accordingly in any position requested by a lead or supervisor. Maintain good attendance Contribute to our safety suggestions and help improve safety in the CTD/DET cell Level 6 Demonstrate excellent working knowledge of all saws within the shipping area. Effectively train new operators on any CTD saw Consistently meet productivity standards of 2000 sills a day and push new or slower operators on efficient DET performance. Complete knowledge of blade usage and changeovers Back up responsibilities include DET material handling, and any other material handling needed depending on the shift worked. This applies to areas and shifts where versatility is critical Maintain excellent attendance JOB KNOWLEDGE: Must have a complete knowledge of entire product line of sills and extenders processed at our site. Requires a working knowledge of ALL trim saws. JOB SPECIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Approximately 6 months of work experience is required to become skilled in all phases of the job. Must be capable of reading a tape measure and new measuring equipment. Educational requirements due to accountability of production require completion of 9th grade. Must have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. INITIATIVE & INGENUITY: Work priorities are determined by the daily cut list, Supervisor's instructions or Cell Leader's instructions. The operator should quality check the raw and sub-finished goods materials frequently. As a crew member one is responsible for the quality of end cuts as well as the proper length and screw placement (this applies to adjustable sills only). Individual must be self-motivated working with limited supervision while following verbal and written instructions. SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Under specific direction of the Cell Leader, Shipping Supervisor and Plant Manager, where goals and objectives are established. Coordinate work with material handler and crewmembers. Report any situations affecting saw efficiency. Advise leads/supervisor of unusual circumstances as they occur. RESPONSIBILITY FOR ERRORS: Errors may be serious involving inventory or missed shipments and will become apparent in daily processing. Maintain proper production and reject reporting. CONTACT WITH OTHER: Regular contact with crewmembers, other employees, lead people and staff members where improper handling may affect results. Clear, concise communications skills are important. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Flow of work and character of duties involve performing frequent hand, wrist, and arm motions; must be capable of standing the entire shift except for breaks. Normal and corrected hearing and vision are necessary with manual coordination some walking, bending, twisting and stooping and lifting of approximately 30 lbs. Must have good hand and eye coordination and be mechanically adaptable to using hand tools. RESPONSIBILITY FOR EQUIPMENT: Damage to any equipment would result in a loss for the company. This position must ensure that all weekly preventative maintenance is completed on a timely basis. Assure that the logbook is effectively completed. WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS: Exposed to normal factory environment (wood dust and aluminum) with no factors or hazards present to a disagreeable extent. Must be able to with stand heat in excess of 95 degrees. SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES: Must adhere to all safety rules and regulations as specified in the Endura's Safety Manual. This responsibility necessitates wearing of proper personal protective equipment (i.e. safety glasses, ear plugs and ear muffs). OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This job includes other duties and responsibilities assigned by management. Reliable attendance is an essential job function.
