CSU San Marcos - STEM Engagement Specialist Are you passionate about increasing diversity in STEM fields? CSUSM's Student Engagement and Success team, located in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics is a forward thinking community of scholars and researchers committed to pushing the boundaries of human knowledge and discovery. We are looking for a VISTA who is interested in joining us at the forefront of solving many of the critical challenges we face in our rapidly evolving world through partnership development and student outreach with high schoolers, community college and CSUSM students. This role is part of the CSU STEM VISTA program. As a member of this cohort, you will take part in a learning community of VISTAs across the California State University system. Our one-year program is designed to promote your growth professionally and personally as you create and enhance programs for STEM students. All projects within CSU STEM VISTA are focused on eliminating race, class, and gender disparities in STEM undergraduate degree and STEM Teacher credential programs. You will be trained to utilize sustainable, asset-based approaches that engage students of color, students from low-income communities, and students who are the first in their families to attend college. Member Duties : The STEM Student Engagement Specialist VISTA will help create new opportunities for students as they prepare to matriculate to campus, enhance pathways to career readiness, and embrace the personal assets students bring to the college community. The STEM Student Engagement Specialist will also provide outreach to local community colleges and high schools, support the identity campaign, " Yo soy STEM.", and develop partnerships with multiple offices and individuals who share our drive and passion to positively impact our diverse community.
