Overview POSITION OVERVIEW: This position is aiding the company's Crane Technicians. To perform the maintenance and minor repairs of the company's terminal cranes. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum TWO (2) year of experience in maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and operations of heavy equipment and/or various cranes. Knowledge of methods, techniques, and procedures involved in maintenance repairs. Effective analytical skills and the ability to identify problems quickly. Must be able to read, write, and speak basic English. Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information. Must be willing to travel, as needed. Ability to work independently with limited supervision and strong initiative. Possess organizational and time management skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and fellow employees. Ability to think logically, follow procedures, instructions and make sound decisions. Must have an active valid TWIC card OR must be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS: DOT Screening is required along with other tests as applicable. The employee is frequently required to sit, climb, bend forward, squat, exercise repetitive wrist motion, finger dexterity, and use eye-hand coordination. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, crawl, twist, reach overhead, exercise repetitive foot motion, pinch, and use eye-hand-foot coordination. Requires ability to work at heights over 150' on a day-to-day basis. Requires the ability to work in sometimes awkward positions. Ability to climb crane ladders and staircases. Ability to lift tools and equipment to 60lbs. The ability to work in an environment that may be hazardous to persons unable to see and hear fast moving equipment. Work is performed primarily in the shop/outdoors; exposed to all possible environmental factors such as extreme heat, rain, wind and high humidity during day and night shifts. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Responsibilities DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist with the maintenance of the company's terminal cranes. Assist with various diagnostics and repairs to the company's terminal cranes. Assist in troubleshooting the terminal cranes' fuel, hydraulic and electrical systems, and diesel engines. Assist with routine checks prior to each terminal crane being used for loading and unloading vessel operations. Complete thorough documentation on all reports and forms as required with work assignments. Maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards and maintain an awareness of surrounding (i.e. vehicles, equipment, etc.) at all times. Operate and test repaired equipment and confirm that specifications are met. Immediately report incidents involving injury, illness, or property damage. Wear appropriate PPE as instructed by immediate supervisor. Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, and rules. Participate in safety meetings and training. Be constantly aware of their personal safety and that of their coworkers. Perform other duties as assigned by direct supervisor in a professional and efficient manner.
