Overview: Crane Operator This position is contingent upon contract award. Primary Responsibilities: Operates both wheeled and tracked type mobile cranes ranging in capacity from 25 to 150 tons, with 60-70 foot booms equipped with hooks and slings, to load and unload tanks, wheeled vehicles, heavy equipment and materials from railroad cars and trucks.
Exercises responsibility for determining rigging requirements, appropriate boom lengths and angles, and redistribution of weights in relation to size, and type of equipment being handled.
Frequently operates crane at or near maximum lifting capacity; receives hand signals from ground crew in making precise placement of heavy, awkward loads. Area of operation is normal, congested with wheeled and tracked vehicles and vans being on and off loaded.
Operator must exercise extreme caution to prevent mishaps, and assure safety of ground crewmen and other personnel engaged in positioning and blocking and bracing activities.
Performs normal operator maintenance.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed above satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned to this position as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A Education and/or Experience: 1-3 Years Crane Operator Experience
High school diploma or equivalent. Must be at least 18 years old.
Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
Experience in military logistics procedures
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening
Ability to obtain a NAC-I and a CAC
Able to operate forklifts and other machinery.
Must be a self-starter who can provide excellent customer service.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must be able to properly communicate between departments.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Makes limited decisions and determines best methods to solve problems by referring to established precedents and policies. Impact of decisions is moderately low.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: NCOO Certified Operator (Preferred) CDL Class A (Required) Security Clearance: SECRET Level Required Must have a current United States Government SECRET Personnel Security Clearance or be able to successfully complete a U.S. government administered Investigation. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must be able to maintain a U.S. Government SECRET clearance. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Able to focus with clear vision at 20 inches or less (computer screen). Able to lift or move up to 50 pounds. Travel: N/A Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Work in outdoor weather conditions within an open air environment. Exposed to moderate noise.
