Position Description: COVID-19 Interventionist Temporary Beginning March 2023 Location: District Roanoke Rapids High School and Roanoke Rapids Early College Position Type: Certified Reports To: Executive Director of School Improvement and Accountability Qualifications: Must hold or be eligible to hold a NC Teaching License in Area 0025 - Elementary Education (K-6), Middle Education (6-9), High School Education (9-12), Reading (K-12), or Special Education and a minimum of three years successful teaching experience Duties and Responsibilities: To address learning losses created by COVID-19 school closures by implementing evidenced-based interventions to help students develop proficient reading, writing, and mathematics skills that will contribute to their academic growth and ensuring that those interventions respond to students' social, emotional, and academic needs as well as address the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on underrepresented student subgroups (each major racial and ethnic group, children from low-income families, children with disabilities, English learners, gender, migrant students, students experiencing homelessness, and children and youth in foster care) by collaborating with classroom teachers, assessing children throughout the school and identifying them as at-risk, designing and implementing evidenced-based academic and social-emotional interventions using research-based methodology, communicating with school personnel and parents of children regarding reading and/or math level and rate of progress, differentiating instruction based on assessment data, documenting interventions and progress on each child, providing professional development to staff, participating in team reviews concerning academic progress of students, providing individual and small group instruction, and provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of each student to ensure success. Compensation: Individuals will be paid according to the NC State Salary Schedule based on their education level and years of experience, plus local supplement and benefits. Position Available: August 2021 - June 2024 (or as long as grant funds allow)
