Department Summary

As a department within Student Affairs, the University of North Texas at Dallas Counseling & Wellness Center offers services to all enrolled students. The UNT Dallas Counseling & Wellness Center provides short-term individual counseling, group counseling, wellness programming, crisis intervention, and case management services. The UNT Dallas Counseling & Wellness Center offers a holistic approach to providing services to students, and is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and confirming environment for all.

Position Overview

The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for the position of Student Services Associate (Case Manager).

This position will support student retention and academic success. The Counselor/Case Manager will facilitate student access to, and appropriate utilization of, University and/or community resources and services. This position will serve as a case manager to students with at-risk mental health and social support needs through intervention, referrals, and connections to follow-up services, in addition to Clinical Counseling services. The Counselor/Case manager reports to the Assistant Director of Counseling and Wellness and is critical to the Department of Student Affairs efforts to address and support the ongoing needs of students. This position requires some evening and Saturday availability. This is a 12 month full time position, with excellent benefits including health insurance, holidays and paid time off.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling, Clinical or Educational Psychology or related field. Must be licensed by the State of Texas or have the ability to obtain appropriate licensure within twenty-four months of employment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of professional counseling practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within in a university setting
  • Experience in clinical counseling
  • Experience with assessing and treating dual diagnosis clients
  • Experience providing crisis intervention, treatment for alcohol/drug use and eating disorders
  • Excellent assessment skills and an ability to relate to a diverse student population

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties
  • Provides comprehensive case management services for students that experience varying levels of crisis and concern, including but not limited to academic, personal, financial, mental and physical health, and family issues.
  • Maintains an ongoing caseload, providing direct services including initial assessment, follow-up care, referring to community services, case management, and crisis intervention.
  • Serves on the UNT Dallas CARE Team and provides programs and outreach to advance the education of the campus community.
  • Supports the Assistant Director of Counseling and Wellness in all aspects of special projects, case management, training programs, and outreach efforts to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assists students in connecting with off-campus and on-campus resources.
  • Advocates for students as appropriate in helping them access services.
  • Serves on selected department, division and University committees.
  • Performs all other duties assigned.

Monday- Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm), some evenings and Saturday availability required
