Cost Accountant - ERP System Implementation
Job Description:
Our client is a transportation and logistics company seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to play a key role in implementing their new M1 ERP system. In this position, you will be responsible for managing the job costing process from start to finish, ensuring a smooth transition from our current Microsoft Dynamics system.
Key Responsibilities of the Cost Accountant:
- The Cost Accountant will manage the entire job costing lifecycle within the new M1 ERP system, including:
- Entering and maintaining material, labor, and overhead cost data
- Setting up product routings, bills of materials, and cost centers
- Generating accurate job cost reports and analysis
- Work closely with the manufacturing team to implement barcoding and other data capture processes to improve tracking and monitoring of job cost data
- Extract data from the old ERP system, scrub and cleanse it, and import it into the new M1 system
- Identify and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise during data migration
- Train manufacturing, accounting, and other relevant staff on the new job costing functionality in M1
- Develop and document new job costing workflows and procedures
- Optimize cost accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for job costing activities
Qualifications of the Cost Accountant:
- The Cost Accountant should have Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with ERP system implementations, data migration, and system integration
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve costing issues
- Excellent communication and training skills to work cross-functionally
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and ERP/accounting software
