The Iowa County Sheriff's Office is collecting applications for a full-time Correctional Officer position along with keeping an eligibility list for the next six months. This position performs a variety of duties, either involving the care and custody of prisoners confined to the County jail. Employees will be required to work varied hours, weekends and holidays and are expected to work overtime. This position will be scheduled for 12 hour shifts starting on the pm rotation.

Minimum Qualifications include but not limited to: 18 years of age or older, high school diploma or G.E.D., valid drivers' license, LESB jail certified or jail certifiable within one year of employment, demonstrated customer service job experience in which telecommunication equipment and computer equipment is managed simultaneously, TIME certification as it relates to the dispatch function, ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Preferred Qualifications include: post high school credits in law enforcement, corrections, or telecommunications, prior law enforcement or corrections experience, prior experience in fire or emergency medical services, prior experience utilizing emergency services equipment, fluency in foreign languages.

Starting pay is $22.38/hr., with a generous comprehensive benefit package. Applicants with lateral experience may receive a higher starting hourly rate of pay.

This position performs a variety of duties, either involving the care and custody of prisoners confined to the County jail. Position may work varied hours, weekends, and holidays, with no guaranteed number of hours per week or month.
