Job Summary: The Educational Coordinator, School of Nurse Anesthesia, is responsible for assisting the Director and Assistant Director in the operation of the school, helping to guarantee quality and complete clinical and didactic instruction which meets the standards of the AANA Council on Accreditation. The Educational Coordinator is responsible for helping the Director and Assistant Director to plan the didactic and clinical educational experiences to allow the graduation of competent and knowledgeable nurse anesthetists. The Educational Coordinator will assume the duties of the Assistant Director as needed. The Educational Coordinator will coordinate contracts and business agreements with clinical affiliates. Assures curriculum is in compliance with the Council on Accreditation and Educational standards. Assists with student and school evaluations. Helps prepare the interim and self-evaluation studies for by the Council on Accreditation. Participates in on site visits and helps evaluate effectiveness and appropriateness of student experience at affiliate sites, and acts as a resource person for affiliate organizations. Participates actively in the overall selection and admission of students. Utilizes candidate scoring sheet to help select candidates for admission. Conducts personal interviews with applicants. Assists in investigation of potential affiliate site for program enrichment. Maintains appropriate lines of communication between the college and clinical sites. Helps investigate and evaluate viability of new clinical sites. Serves as a resource person for students, clinical faculty, and hospital. Always presents self and the school in a professional manner to a variety of communities of interest. Serves as a professional role model for students and faculty. Serves as a community spokesperson for the field of anesthesia. Represents and provides presentations to and communicates with departments of the hospital, community, and various professional groups. Performs other duties as required. Required: Master's degree in anesthesia, nursing, or education related field. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Graduate of an accredited school of anesthesia. Has acquired or is pursuing a Doctoral level degree. Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program. Current PALS or completion within one year of hire/transfer date into department Current ACLS or completion within one year of hire/transfer date into department Current AANA certification CRNA active practicing status Minimum 2 years' experience working as CRNA Minimum 2 years of clinical and/or didactic teaching experience. Ability to understand and react effectively to the unique needs of the adult learner. Ability to teach in the classroom. Proficiency in the use of all inhalation and intravenous anesthesia agents and techniques. Working knowledge of computer, anesthesia, and medical software and research process. Preferred: Prior administrative or managerial experience
