Job Duties: Manage Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services. Coordinate disability services by meeting with students and setting up specific accommodations. Schedule Interpreters to ensure coverage for all classes needing interpreters. Coordinate interpreting services for Adult Basic Educations classes. Notify faculty of students with disabilities and their accommodations. Provide consultation and education to faculty, staff, and administration on disability issues. Serve as a resource to students, staff and faculty on disability issues and accommodations process. Attend staff meetings, college meetings, committee meetings and professional organizational meetings. Provide help with late registration, Stop By Get Started and new freshman orientation events. Assist with test proctoring when needed. Provide data and reports for funding as requested. Hire freelance interpreters. Coordinate interpreting and note taking services for all campuses. Provide conflict resolution for interpreters and Deaf or Hard of Hearing students. Advocate for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Students and interpreters. Perform interpreting in the classroom and for college programs and services. Prepares interpretation for complex/technical subject matter Attend a minimum of 20 hours of professional development to maintain KY state Licensure and National Interpreter Certification. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: 4 Year Degree, Completion of an accredited interpreter training program, or equivalent. 3 Years of Interpreting experience Licensed with the Kentucky Board of Interpreters (KBI), Nationally certified through Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf & Hard of hearing (RID) Must be skilled in American Sign Language; Must be a qualified interpreter in both expressive and receptive ASL; may be required to sign for extended periods of time. Must be prepared to sign under various environmental conditions. Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree 5 + years of Interpreting Experience, post-secondary interpreting experience Experienced in scheduling Interpreters. Experienced with Microsoft 365 Licensed with the Kentucky Board of Interpreters (KBI) Nationally Certified through Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Must be skilled in American Sign Language and appropriate forms of manually coded English and oral interpreting; may be required to sign for extended periods of time. Must be prepared to sign under various environmental conditions.
