The COO of GTS position will have responsibility for leading and managing Strategy and Planning, IT Program Resiliency and office of the CIO operational requirements in support of the Global Technology (GTS) organization. The ideal candidate will have a combination of both technical and operational understanding:
  • Drives the development of the business unit strategy on both a multi-year and periodic basis in support of the company's individual business unit's long-term strategic plans including those related to products and services
  • Works closely with most senior executives in GTS to develop the plans and is responsible for leading the most critical strategic initiatives
  • In collaboration with the CIO, plan and coordinate financial planning across all strategic initiatives including the annual corporate budget process.
  • Develop, and direct the execution of operating policies, internal controls and process in support of division objectives.
  • Oversee general risk oversight activities, inclusive of regulatory and audit engagement oversight, and compliance activities in support of IT division resiliency activities
  • Builds strong relationships with executive teams across all business units
  • Develops clear communications materials for the division; communicates findings and recommendations to senior management
  • Lead the performance management process that measures and evaluates progress against goals.
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to improve general management and administrative procedures, operational support services.
  • Provide analytical insights alongside senior management team in support of GTS performance reporting
  • Relevant regulated financial service expertise, with an understanding of challenges of running a large-scale Technology organization.
  • Exceptional communication skills and relationship management capabilities, able to communicate with all levels of the organization effectively and across Operations and Technology subject matter experts.


Advisory Skills and Thought Leadership - The candidate must have the ability to advise the executive management of the organization with great skill and a proactive approach. This requires a level of executive presence and the knowledge and stature to deliver advice in a way that will be respected and valued by the Investment, Marketing and Executive business unit leaders.

Candidates must also have a proven ability to think and act globally, harmonizing global, regional and local objectives. A highly developed sense of judgment and the ability to balance business needs in an objective and practical way is critical.

Managerial Leadership - Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to motivate employees, build teams and relationships and engender a sense of results-orientation. Personal and organizational accountability, loyalty, independence and fairness among colleagues and employees, particularly in a multi-cultural environment are also important. A demonstrated ability to develop employees, manage and lead successfully in a matrix environment is important.

Regulatory/Compliance Knowledge - The candidate must have adequate knowledge of the relevant legal and regulatory environment for the industry globally. Familiarity with or exposure to, international regulations would be optimal.

Influencing and Partnering Skills - It is vital that the individual has the proven ability to form constructive relationships with executive management and be recognized as a partner and resource by all. The candidate will have a demonstrable record of engaging with executive teams in shaping business strategies and of being seen as able to identify solutions in addition to potential issues.
Confirmed skills in problem assessment and resolution as well as collaborative problem solving in a large complex Information Technology setting required. You should possess excellent communications skills with evidence of successful leadership and administrative/supervisory experience. Ability to detect emerging trends and encourage and make recommendations for creative change
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in roles including strategy and planning
  • Minimum of 10 years of executive management experience including as a people leader
  • Demonstrated experience at a leadership level with IT operational resiliency
  • Strong Technical expertise in a large complex IT organization.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills experience in analytics and/or reporting
  • Experience applying analytic methods, interpreting data and communicating results to executive management peers along with recommendations for change and/or transformation
  • IT project management with the ability to handle multiple priorities and lead teams either through either influence or direct accountability
  • Results focused individual who can work effectively with a variety of internal and external constituents
  • Proven senior executive with a hands-on approach to leadership with both technical and business depth
  • Shown perfection in analytical, interpersonal, written, and oral presentations skills necessary
  • Advanced degree or MBA in business administration preferred

Salary Range:
$225,000 - $337,500 Annual
The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
