Clayton Services is searching for a Controls Engineer to join a thriving company in Katy, Texas. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting control systems for industrial refrigeration.

Job Type: Direct-Hire

Pay Rate: $90,000 - $125,000/annually

Controls Engineer Responsibilities:

Design control systems tailored to meet customer or internal requirements for industrial refrigeration systems.

Develop and enhance Programmable Logic Controller and Human-Machine Interface software.

Ensure the accuracy of electrical drawings through meticulous review.

Develop comprehensive electrical and control design documentation, including layouts, diagrams, system architecture, and bills of materials derived from Process and Instrumentation Diagrams.

Prepare Factory Acceptance Test documents to verify system functionality.

Collaborate with customers to seamlessly integrate PLC software with their Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Deliver ongoing support to customers for existing installations.

Provide on-site commissioning and startup assistance to customers when required.

Undertake additional responsibilities as delegated.

Controls Engineer Skills and Abilities:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Ability to travel up to 30% of the time to client sites nationwide.

Knowledge of Modbus and Ethernet/IP communication protocols.

Knowledge of basic IP network configuration.

Familiarity with AutoCAD Electrical.

Proficiency with Allen Bradley programming software (Studio5000 PLC programming, FactoryTalk HMI programming).

Proficiency with CodeSys, Siemens TIA Portal, and Ignition is preferred.

Controls Engineer Education and Experience:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree in related STEM discipline required.

5+ years of controls engineering experience in the industrial refrigeration market is desired.

Experience with modern revision control systems is highly desired.
