Controls Engineer - Closed Die Forging
Location: Cleveland, OH
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain control systems using Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
- Program and troubleshoot ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text.
- Design and implement Human-Machine Interface (HMI) screens for operator interaction.
- Integrate PLCs with other control systems and plant equipment (e.g., SCADA, VFDs, robotics).
- Perform system diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve production issues.
- Develop and maintain control system documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and control code.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production processes.
- Work collaboratively with electrical engineers, maintenance personnel, and production teams.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Controls Engineer in a heavy manufacturing environment.
- Proven experience with Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLCs (ControlLogix, S7-300/400 preferred).
- Strong understanding of ladder logic, function block diagrams, and structured text programming.
- Experience with HMI development using software like RSLogix 5000 or TIA Portal.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with industrial networking protocols (e.g., DeviceNet, Profibus) a plus.
