Fives Group is seeking a Controls Design Engineer in the Bowling Green, OH area.

Summary:

The main function of the Controls Design Engineer is to design hardware systems, select hardware, and develop programs for PLC, HMI, VFD, robotics, and other systems for automation equipment.

Job Responsibilities:

• Develop and modify PLC and HMI programs based on customer requirements. Most systems will be Rockwell based, but some may be Siemens or other PLC brands.

• Program and modify programs for robotics (mostly ABB or FANUC).

• Control Panel Layout design and creating other electrical drawings. This will be done with either AutoCAD Electrical or Solidworks Electrical. Ability to design from scratch is a must.

• Perform engineering calculations for load, heat, thermal, transformers, etc.

• Assist the field service team with installs and commissioning of equipment.

• Provide technical assistance during the quoting and proposal phase for a project.

• Review project schedules to ensure of compliance and feasibility.

• Ability to travel up to 10-15%.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor or Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field is preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• 3+ years of relevant work experience in the industrial controls and automation industry.

• Proficient with controls hardware design and PLC programming.

• Knowledge of motion controls systems and robot motion control including servos and VFDs.

• Prior automotive experience is helpful.

• AutoCAD Electrical or Solidworks Electrical proficient

• Professional interpersonal skills (oral & written communication and persuasion skills) to build internal and external relationships. Actively listens, probes and identifies concerns.
