Job Details

This position is responsible for leading the financial function for the mill site by providing reliable cost analysis, counsel and guidance to assist mill management in maintaining effective cost controls and meeting business objectives; by directly participating in the business planning process; and by implementing and interpreting corporate financial policy

Responsibilities
  • This position is responsible for leading the financial function for the mill site by providing reliable cost analysis, counsel and guidance to assist mill management in maintaining effective cost controls and meeting business objectives; by directly participating in the business planning process; and by implementing and interpreting corporate financial policy
  • Provide timely and accurate cost analysis, sound financial advice and counsel to mill management to assist in minimizing manufacturing costs and meeting mill objectives
  • This includes an analysis of variances from budget and forecasts
  • Prepare the annual budget and required forecasts
  • This includes providing analysis and interpretation of financial and statistical data to operating management and by working closely with mill personnel to establish cost forecasts representing good normal operating conditions
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts in area of responsibility, including developing and implementing systems and processes to support streamlined, accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis to support informed decision-making by management
  • Engage in the operations side of the business as a member of the mill leadership team and provide guidance and counsel to the mill management team regarding financial implications of operating issues and/or results
  • Lead the monthly closing process to ensure that accurate and timely information is provided for both corporate financial reporting and mill cost control
  • Provide effective leadership to mill finance team, including coaching and development to ensure strong team and individual performance
  • Provide timely financial information and reports to corporate and the mill site as required
  • Monitor and reconcile inventories and establish proper reserves
  • Establish and maintain appropriate means to safeguard cash
  • Provide accounting support for all levels of the business
  • Assist with the preparation and/or review of the financial analyses of proposed projects to permit sound business decisions and to evaluate the results of completed capital appropriations
  • Monitor capital spending versus plan and forecast
  • Approve all capital AR's
  • Ensure application of established financial controls within area of responsible by effective implementation and maintenance of financial policies/processes and instructions
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality performance by adopting a customer-based philosophy in the level of service provided

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:
  • A Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or related field is required.

Experience level:
  • 8 years
