Position Overview: As the Controller, you will be a key member of the leadership team, responsible for overseeing the financial functions of the company. This is a hands-on role with one direct report, offering the opportunity to both dive into the details and provide strategic financial guidance to the leadership team. The successful candidate will have experience in smaller company accounting/financial leadership, a track record of mentoring and developing staff, and the ability to partner with leadership on key decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the company's financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Provide hands-on guidance to the accounting team and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts, offering insights to drive strategic decision-making
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement financial strategies to support company goals
  • Mentor and develop the skills of the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence
  • Assess and improve internal controls, processes, and procedures to enhance overall financial performance
  • Partner with external auditors and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Play a key role in special projects, providing financial expertise and contributing to the overall success of the organization

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial leadership roles, preferably in smaller companies
  • Strong G/L accounting skills and knowledge of financial reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to provide insights and recommendations to leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
