Job Summary:
The Controller supports Island Saints and Caribbean Cellars operations. In this role, you will assist the Controller with recording journal entries, maintain account reconciliation schedules, supervise Account Payables and Staff Accountants, and update and maintain policies and procedures.
This position is part of the support team at Clare Holdings, located in North Aurora, and interacts constantly with the operating company controller and divisional controller.
Essential Functions:

• Supervises and coordinates the accounting staff responsibilities including monthly ledger review and risk assessment.

• Calculates and pays several taxes and fees including; excise, gross receipt, tobacco, customs, and shipping insurance.

• Observe/audit physical inventory counts and record adjustments.

• Supervises and assists in the monthly financial closing process by entering journal entries, reconciling various general ledger accounts, reviewing bank reconciliations, and providing account analysis and support for the Caribbean Cellars Division.

• Monitors operational expenses and performance.

• Assists with the year-end audit by providing financial documentation to auditors.

• Annual budget and cash management responsibilities
Required Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required; CPA preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a distribution environment.

• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software with Advanced MS Excel skills.
Physical Requirements:

• Able to work in an office environment and lift up to 25 pounds.
