About the opportunity:
Our client is a 20 + year old company specialized in the childcare space. They have locations throughout TX. They continue to grow and expand and are looking to add a Controller to the team.
We are seeking a Controller who will plan and direct the accounting and financial operations of the parent company and subsidiaries, and who is an integral part of the leadership team. The Controller will report directly to the CFO and work hand in hand with the leadership across the organization, as well as lead 3-5 direct reports.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Oversees infrastructure and activities of the accounting and finance functions, including AP,AR, cash management, financial/management reporting, and analysis.
- Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
- Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
- Provides financial analysis, with emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Total oversight and management of month-end close process.
- Recommend benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance.
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing. Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for audits.
- Responsible for quarterly and annual tax filings.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
Qualifications
CPA preferred
Minimum of a bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance
5-7 years of progressive related experience; 3 years supervisory/management experience
Multi-entity experience and consolidations experience
M&A experience would be a plus
Advanced proficiency in Excel, and accounting software
Ability to manipulate large amounts of data with attention to detail and accuracy
