Job Details:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Controller to join our dynamic construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all financial and fiscal management aspects of the company's operations. They will provide leadership and coordination in the administrative, business planning, accounting, and budgeting efforts of the company. Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the daily accounting operations including month and end-year process, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll and utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, trust account statement reconciliations, check runs, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc.
2. Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
3. Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
4. Coordinate and complete annual audits.
5. Provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
6. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
7. Manage and oversee the entire accounting team.
8. Manage the budget process and consolidate financials.
9. Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
10. Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
11. Support month-end and year-end close process.
12. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
13. Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
14. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance, CPA preferred.
2. 5+ years of proven working experience as a Controller in the construction industry.
3. 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience.
4. Advanced degree in Accounting.
5. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
6. Experience with creating financial statements.
7. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
8. Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
9. Strong analytical and planning skills; and understanding of business and management principles.
10. Leadership skills and experience; employee management; budget development and oversight experience.
11. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial data and information to professionals with varying degrees of financial knowledge.
12. Strong problem-solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.
13. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
