We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our dynamic team in the construction industry. This role is integral to our organization, as the Controller will be responsible for managing all financial aspects of our business, from overseeing the accounting department to conducting financial planning and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the construction industry, with proficiency in QuickBooks and a deep understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsibilities:

1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
3. Coordinate all audit activities and liaise with external auditors.
4. Regularly prepare financial reports, including weekly, monthly, and annual reports, along with forecasts.
5. Implement and manage a comprehensive budgeting process.
6. Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
7. Leverage strengths of the finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities, and develop and implement training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
8. Oversee the production of monthly reports including reconciliations with funders and pension plan, as well as financial statements and cash flow projections for use by management, as well as the audit/finance committee and board of directors.
9. Oversee all financial, project/program, and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a finance role, preferably within the construction industry.
3. Proven expertise in using QuickBooks for financial management and reporting.
4. Solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles, with a working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.
5. Proficient user of finance software and advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
6. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
7. Able to manage, guide, and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
8. High attention to detail and accuracy.
9. Ability to direct and supervise.
10. Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
11. Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
