Job Purpose: The Construction Supervisor is responsible for the management of field personnel, subcontractors, quality control, quality assurance, safety, and the implementation of schedules. The Construction Supervisor must sustain positive and seamless internal, subcontractor and client relationships and
communication.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of construction from start to completion in a timely manner, ensuring quality and safety throughout the duration of the project
  • Provide on-site leadership and assign and monitor day-to-day operations for project execution
  • Responsible for management of union field employees, including hiring, personnel issues, productivity, etc., and take an active role in training personnel on company safety, operational needs, and company policies
  • Responsible for management, maintenance and reporting of all equipment assigned to them and their crews
  • Act as a liaison on behalf of Down Under Construction, maintaining open lines of communication between clients, coworkers, crews, management, etc., ensuring high levels of professionalism are maintained at all times
  • Accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of all field information/documentation provided to the corporate office, including daily updates, timesheets, equipment reports, material/inventory reports, redlines, incident reporting, etc.
  • Hold pre-construction meetings, clearly identifying and sharing project goals and targets with Forman to ensure comprehension of project scope, duration, targets, and any other job-specific requirements and knowledge
  • Communicate any changes in the project (i.e. breakdowns, delays, change orders) to Project Controls, Project Manager, and/or Estimating
  • Provide weekly status updates to Project Controls, escalating any issues that could be identified as risks to the success of the project (resource needs, delays, etc.)
  • Ensure all permits, locates, and other compliance requirements are met prior to job start
  • Timely documentation and communication of safety incidents, utility or property damages, and any other issues requiring corporate support
  • Provide variance explanations on projects that are unsuccessful in meeting targets by 10% or more
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of best practices used in the Utility and Construction industry
  • 5+ years of experience in the Utility/Construction industry
  • High School Diploma Required
  • Comprehension of project plan drawings, specifications and projected schedules
  • Basic computer skills: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
