POSITION SUMMARY: Oversees and manages all phases of construction projects, including project safety coordinating workers, materials, and equipment, supervising sub-contractors and staff, ensuring that specifications are being followed, and that work is proceeding on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Oversee all aspects of the job site: coordinate, schedule, direct, monitor, and inspect all subcontractors, suppliers, labor, and material, train: Mentor foreman and crew members.
Track and control schedules and associated costs to achieve completion of the project on time and within budget
Monitors job safety and safety training; enforces safety programs and OSHA Standards as required and ensure subcontractor compliance with Stella May standards
Primary liaison with project managers and engineers for the day-to-day construction activities of the project
Perform an in-depth review of all contract documents to become familiar with all details, notes, and requirements
Monitor quality standards of all jobs, including contractor performance, and ensure that all quality assurance and company standards are being met
Provide guidance in resolving construction problems encountered
Provide technical assistance regarding construction methods and equipment
Lead, supervise and develop all Stella May field staff, including providing input on or completing performance appraisals
Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times
Identify potential changed conditions and inform Project Manager
Assist with preparation of written reports or updates (internal and external) for management, client, and project team, to ensure a clear understanding of project status
Manage and make decisions related to the performance of work-related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and trade employee staffing levels
Oversee work among all trades to promote a coordinated project operation. Resolving local area problems regarding procedures, precedence, design clarifications, adequate labor and equipment, schedule, and all other appropriate matters
Act as liaison among owner's representatives, inspection agencies, staff, and subcontractors
Manage the General Conditions and General Requirements for the project to maintain budget
Manage the work to ensure that it is completed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents
Approve Time Sheets and complete other personnel paperwork
Submit 3-Week Look-Ahead Schedules
Attend Meetings as required
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum ten years of industry-related experience in a gas distribution or related underground utility construction
Thorough knowledge and understanding of how to read and interpret general and subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications, as well as construction means, methods, and materials
Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures
Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
Thorough understanding of OSHA requirements and safe working practices
Ability to work with customers to develop and maintain long-term relationships
Computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs
Knowledge of Pro Core scheduling desirable
Ability to maintain a valid driver's license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform key duties
Requiring the employee to climb ladders, scaffolds and stair towers, often with narrow steps and passageways
Frequently work with hands extended overhead, sometimes in conjunction with the operation of hand power tools
Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds personally, and up to 100 pounds with assistance
Manual dexterity to hand-carry generators, lumber and other construction materials, forms, power tools, and hand tools
Capable of operating concrete vibrators for extended periods of time
Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment
Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
Capable of being certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations using ladders or crawling, as required
Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions
Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project
Employee regularly works near heavy equipment and moving machinery
Work may involve a variety of substances commonly found on construction sites such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel
