Job Description

Position Summary

The firm represents public and private sector clients. This position focuses on reviewing bids and contracts, contract preparation and negotiation, and litigation involving design, delay and breach of contract issues. Work would include participation and preparation for mediation, trial, and appeals. Extensive experience in litigation and the ability to counsel clients in all aspects of construction law including procurement and contract preparation are requirements for this position

Essential Functions

Essential functions include, but are not limited to the below:
  • Research and interpret facts and law dealing with intricate problems and situations involving tort litigation, including defense of complex injury actions, and commercial litigation, including lender liability, business disputes, contract claims, trade secrets and other complex commercial transactions.
  • Perform analysis and make or suggest opinions that impact client.
  • Research and prepare memoranda on a variety of legal issues.
  • Draft correspondence in response to questions and/or requests for information from clients, attorneys, judges, officials and/or agencies.
  • Draft and answer written discovery.
  • Represent client in legal proceedings that may involve court appearances, administrative hearings, depositions and meetings.
  • Prepare and enter daily time entries

Requirements:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school; a member in good standing of the California Bar
  • Strong drafting skills
  • Highly team-oriented
  • 3+ years of civil litigation
