03/15/2023EDUCATION: A paraprofessional license or associate degree or higher, or 45 hours of college credit (higher education). Experience in the construction industry. .

POSITION GOAL: Work as a Construction Aide at Woodruff Career and Technical Center, instructing students in the construction classes. Assist with student instruction when/as directed by the teacher. Assist with theoretical and practical work in the classroom including the monitoring and training of students in the safe use of power tools and equipment.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provide quality instruction and assistance in the construction program.
  • Understand the features and focus areas of the construction program.
  • Be consistently prepared for class by reviewing curriculum, assisting in the development of lesson plans and setting up the classroom.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions
  • Provide continuous evaluation on an ongoing basis to students, offering constructive feedback to students to help them improve their skills.
  • Implement the policies and procedures in place for the school.
  • Maintain all safety and sanitary practices followed for all students, instructors and guests
  • Monitor student attendance and dress
  • Foster teamwork
  • Teach and assist to all levels of student abilities and adjust subject matter as required
  • Create study guides, activities, and educational tools for students.
  • Be able to demonstrate various hands-on skills and services
  • Project a professional image at all times
  • Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND CRITICAL SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of skill-building activities, including the fundamental concepts, knowledge, safety protocols, and hands-on techniques and skills needed for a construction career.
  • A commitment to educating students in the field of construction, providing students with the knowledge, skills, and attitude needed for success in construction careers.
  • Familiarity with and experience in the construction field, motivating students and providing students with "real life" experiences.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, and Excel.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Phone skills and customer service skills.
  • Good relationship and communication skills, including acting as a role model for students.
  • Ability to connect with high school students and their families.
