Watson Civil Construction, Inc. is a leading heavy/highway contractor operating throughout Florida, specializing in large site infrastructure, underground, and road work. We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Construction Accountant to join our dynamic team. The Construction Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the company and ensuring accurate accounting practices are maintained. Responsibilities: Manage subcontractor billings, ensuring proper coding including certificates of insurance, etc. Work on lien waiver requests and track lien notices to owners. Assist in tracking notice to owners. Work on accounts payable specifically, reconciling credit card statements. Collaborate closely with the Controller and Assistant Controller to provide regular updates on project status, costs, and any changes. Assist in the development, implementation, and enhancement of budgets, policies, and department controls to improve accuracy and efficiency. Create and manage spreadsheets, budgets, and reports across various software applications. Support in the management of equipment costs, ensuring accurate and timely entry of costs and coding. Work closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and other departments as necessary. Aid in the preparation of financial reports, including reconciliation of job costs to the general ledger and other month and year-end procedures. Collaborate with accounting staff on invoice and pay application coding. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred. Previous experience in construction accounting is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel). Familiarity with Spectrum software is a plus. Exceptional organizational skills with a proactive approach to anticipating business needs. Self-motivated individual with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. Capable of working with minimal supervision, demonstrating the initiative to enhance systems and determine the best approach for new assignments or projects.
