POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Project Manager/Superintendent, the Concrete Foreman oversees the prep work, placement, installation, finishing, curing, cutting, and oversite of all assigned projects and tasks. This position performs a critical supervisory role on construction sites, leading crews in the completion of various concrete projects, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and quantity standards at all times. Occasional travel, sometime overnight, is required for the success of this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs, supervises, and troubleshoots routine issues that occur on the job site.

  • Coordinates daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, and personnel.

  • Oversees all activities pertaining to concrete preparation, layout, forming, placement, installation, finishing, and curing on various assignments and projects.

  • Pours, places, and finishes concrete.

  • Subgrade and subbase preparation.

  • Sets forms to required grade & layout.

  • Cuts/bends/ties reinforcement.

  • Divides concrete construction projects into different stages and evaluates how much labor and materials are required for each stage.

  • Operates skid-steer, mini excavator, backhoe, etc.

  • Resolves conflicts or miscommunications quickly and amicably.

  • Processes paperwork on a daily and sometimes weekly basis.

  • Coordinates with Project and Construction Managers to ensure jobs stay on track.

  • Maintains confidentiality about YEC matters such as price and cost schedules, company finances or any information about YEC to competitors and clients.

  • Frequent travel throughout the week to manage various projects.

  • Occasional out of town and overnight travel required.

  • Performs other related duties as required or requested by Management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages a team of concrete finishers, carpenters, and laborers.

  • Assists with hiring and training new personnel.

  • Develops work schedules based on employee and contractor availability.

  • Collaborates with the Project Manager/Superintendent to discipline employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Associate or bachelor's degree heavily favored.

  • 5+ years of applicable construction experience.

  • Prior management or supervisory experience.

  • Clear understanding of the means and methods of concrete construction and related site work.

  • Ability to use tools of the trade, such as hand and power tools.

  • Experience operating machinery is preferred, such as skid-steer, backhoe, telehandler, mini excavator, truss screed, and laser screed.

  • Basic understanding of how to read and interpret architect/engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

  • Bridge work and box culvert reinforced concrete experience.

  • Experience with ground water or dewatering applications around the river strongly favored.

  • Strong multitasking abilities and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Driven to meet or beat schedules and deadlines, is punctual and respectful of other peoples' time.

  • Able to travel and potentially be gone for a couple weeks at a time.

  • Bilingual is heavily favored.

REQUIRED LICENSES & OTHER MISCELLANEOUS NECESSITIES

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to/from the office and the job site(s).

  • Class A CDL license strongly favored.

  • Available to work on Saturday and/or Sunday if project deadlines require weekend work.

  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and a thorough criminal background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions and seasonal temperatures.

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 75 pounds occasionally.

  • Capable of working long hours as determined by scope of work.

  • Able to stand, walk, sit, kneel, crawl, balance, and stoop.

  • Ability to work from a ladder and tolerate heights as needed.
