Concrete Field Technician Department: Construction/CEI Employment Type: Full Time Location: Canton, MI Description The Mannik & Smith Group, Inc. Due to MSG's continued growth, a new opening is available for a Concrete Field Technician to assist with our projects in Canton, MI. Key Responsibilities Conduct density and air content tests on hardened concrete specimens in accordance with ACI and ASTM standards. Prepare and handle concrete samples obtained from construction sites or laboratory settings. Use specialized equipment such as pressure meters and volumetric apparatus to determine air content and density. Perform calculations to analyze test results and ensure accuracy in reporting. Document and communicate test findings to project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders. Maintain testing equipment and ensure calibration to ensure reliability and precision of measurements. Adhere to safety protocols and quality assurance procedures during all testing activities. Collaborate with laboratory technicians and construction personnel to coordinate sample collection and testing schedules. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to testing procedures or equipment malfunctions. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Materials Technology, or related field preferred; equivalent experience or certifications may be considered. ACI certification (e.g., Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I) highly desirable. Previous experience in concrete testing or quality control, particularly with density and air content testing. Strong understanding of ACI and ASTM standards related to concrete testing and materials. Proficiency in using specialized testing equipment and tools for density and air content measurements. Ability to interpret test results accurately and communicate findings effectively. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work. Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks. Comfortable working in both laboratory and field environments. Physical ability to lift and handle concrete samples and testing equipment as needed.
