Introduction
As a junior section 508 Certified Software Tester, you will be responsible for ensuring that your team's applications with user interfaces are in compliance with Section 508 accessibility standards for every release. You are comfortable working side by side along with other testers, developers, analysts, designers, and customers, making decisions together to quickly deliver valuable working software that is free of defects and meets defined requirements. You have a passion for high-quality, reliable, accessible applications. You are agile and retrospective, and not afraid to identify what we are doing wrong so we can fix it, and what we are doing right so we can improve upon it. Your Role and Responsibilities Skills, Expertise, and Expectations: Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DHS Section 508 Trusted Tester certification within 3 months of onboarding to program.
Possess an understanding of Section 508 compliance principles and testing technologies and strategies.
Ability to design and implement Section 508 compliance test approaches for new or existing applications, including producing high quality documentation. Must be able to create a 508 compliance plan, including partnering with development team members to develop and streamline testing handoffs and correct found bugs within the agile delivery framework. Produce Section 508 compliant designs and provide guidance to business analysts and front end developers as applicable. Possess excellent communication skills; both verbal and written.
Familiarity with U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) a plus.
Experience working in an agile development environment, preferably SAFe or Scrum.
Actively participate in and contribute to planning, refinement, estimation, design, retrospective, and technical demo meetings.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field
Location: Remote; must be available to work on Eastern time zone schedule
Clearance: Residence within the U.S. for three (3) of the past five (5) years, and current residence within the U.S. Ability to obtain and maintain a DHS EOD (Public Trust) - existing Public Trust desired Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise Excellent Communication Skills
