This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid- point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time offer. NATURE OF WORK: Under general supervision performs professional public health services of considerable difficulty in planning, organizing, and implementing public health programs; performs related work as required or assigned. This position has program specific responsibility.(Illustrative Only) Develops, facilitates, and supports strategic community partnerships to promote the health of the target population; solicit community-based input from individuals and organizations and gather information that will inform the development of public health policy and programs; develops and provides educational and capacity-building trainings to community partners and community groups, and conveys public health information using a variety of approaches; recruits and supports community members for engagement in coalitions, focus groups, advisory groups, and public health initiatives; provides resources and technical assistance to community organizations regarding public health programs and issues. Provides information and engages community partners in the use of best and promising practices; identifies mechanisms to monitor and evaluate programs for effectiveness and quality; participates in program planning processes; tracks and reports activities; develops information, educational marketing, or outreach materials; attends trainings and engages in professional development to maintain and enhance proficiency in public health practices; may supervise assigned staff; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned. Associate's Degree in public health, social work, or a closely related field, AND three (3) year of experience in a public health setting; OR A Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for up to one (1) year of health experience. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license; must possess or have the ability to obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card; requires successful completion of a background check. Knowledge of: Public health principles and practices; health sciences including health maintenance, promotion and prevention; social determinants of health; trauma-aware principles and practices; community assessment and resources; community engagement principles, practices and techniques; policy, systems and environmental change strategies. Skill in: Speaking to individuals of varying backgrounds; communicating complex ideas in clear, understandable terms; public speaking; using group facilitation methods; using computers and software; communicating both orally and in writing. Ability to: Coordinate services for a group of clients or target population in a public health program; use initiative and judgment in a project management; establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public; provide guidance and share expertise to build capacity of program staff.; follow written and verbal instructions; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation. Working Environment Work is performed in a variety of settings including office cubicle and community based settings; the usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity; travel throughout the local area is a requirement of this position; working at a computer monitor for extended periods required; the job is performed under minimal temperature variations and in a generally hazard free environment.
