The Prince George's County Government Department of Health is seeking qualified applicants to fill a fulltime Community Health Nurse I/II position, grade A18/A21 within its Health/Environmental/Disease Control Division. The incumbent in this position provides nursing services for the purpose of health promotion, education and coordination of care. Population served are infants, youth, adults and seniors The incumbent must have and maintain a valid Registered Nurse (RN) License Issued by the Maryland Board of Nursing or a license recognized by the Compact State Agreement. Examples of Work What You'll Do: Obtain a comprehensive health history from a client to confirm no significant health changes. Teaches and demonstrates client care procedures and health promotion concepts to clients and their families. Documents patient's assessments, treatment, intervention and progress in accordance with Health Department, State and Federal guidelines Determine the frequency of Nurse Monitoring Visits Evaluate the quality of personal assistance services delivered by the Residential Service Agencies (RSAs). Confers with health professionals and Supports Planners. Qualifications What You'll Need: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited school, college, university or an equivalent program with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related health field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland. Possession of a valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Certification Possession of a valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. PRFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in nursing Home Visiting Experience Proven experience and desire to work in a team oriented, fast-paced and professional environment. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle. Possession of a valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification Additional Information CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Upon selection, the candidate must: 1. Possess and maintain a current valid Registered Nurse License issued by the Maryland State Board of Nursing. Possess and maintain a valid Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification at the time of appointment. 3. Pass a thorough background investigation 4. Possess and maintain a valid driver's license 5.Pass a through employment physical examination 6. Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency. 7. Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties. DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY: Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligible candidates, which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date. Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.
