Description Are you an experienced and creative communications professional who excels at developing communications plans and crafting compelling messages and stories? Are you excited by the chance to use creative storytelling to share examples of innovative, collaborative work across APL through a variety of communications channels including writing, video and presentations? Do you have a passion for helping staff members understand how their ideas can be developed through internal funding opportunities? If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our team at APL. We are seeking a communications strategist who can drive a communications strategy from conception to execution pulling on the talents of creative partners across our communications department in design, video production, writing, user experience design, project management and more. Communications strategists are responsible for the strategic direction, prioritization and successful execution of communications campaigns large and small, internal and external. As a Communications Strategist Inspire and lead a multi-disciplinary team of creatives to develop new ways to reach staff members with essential information.
Serve as a trusted communications advisor to innovation and collaboration program leaders, helping craft clear and effective messages.
Set the strategy for and manage an entire portfolio of communications initiatives related to the innovation and collaboration program.
Partner with creatives across the communications department to create compelling content and tell captivating stories through graphics, articles, presentations, environmental displays and video.
Provide thought-leadership on emerging trends in communications and demonstrate the creative confidence to get buy-in from partners and leaders on your new ideas. Qualifications You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you A Bachelor's degree in communications, graphic design, English, journalism, marketing, public relations, social sciences or a related field.
At least six years of relevant experience in strategic communications, to include internal communications, executive communications and successful multi-media campaigns.
Demonstrated experience in assessing multifaceted situations and collaborating across complex organizations.
Experience working with creative teams in a dynamic environment.
An aptitude for analyzing and leveraging data in the development and presentation of compelling message content.
Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, analytics, critical thinking, project management and organizational communications skills.
An ability to operate independently, set priorities and adjudicate competing needs in a fast-paced organization.
Are able to obtain a Secret level security clearance. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship. You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you Experience leading internal communications in a large organization.
Experience leading teams of creatives from several disciplines.
Worked with government, DoD, academic or research staff.
Experience with reputation management and executive communications.
Proficiency in developing, managing and executing successful and sophisticated cross-channel communications campaigns.
