- Establishes controls so only properly cleared personnel with a legitimate need are issued COMSEC material.
- Advise all COMSEC users of their responsibility for properly safeguarding and controlling COMSEC material in their possession.
- Establishes and conducts a comprehensive user-training program for all CROs/SVROs and alternates.
- Document initial and refresher training on the AF Form 4168, COMSEC Responsible Officer and User Training Checklist.
- Establishes and maintains a standardized organizational email account for the main accounts on both NIPRNet and SIPRNet.
- Ensures installation compliance with COMSEC requirements by conducting a self-assessment
- Audits and inventories user-held Accounting Legend Codes (ALC)-1, ALC-2, and ALC-4 for physical material, and ALC-6 and ALC-7 KMI holdings.
- Oversees the base CAP and provides written local procedures to all unit CAP administrators. Uses CMS to manage Installation/Base's CAP
- Follows standardized customer support processes on requests for information, support, or service.
- Uses the AF COMSEC Computing Environment as a resource for COMSEC professionals.
- Conducts annual account verifications in the CMS to ensure information is current.
- Assists ConAuths by validating keying material requests from the CRO and ensure the keying material ordered reflects actual requirements
- Ensures waivers are signed by the Commander, with the type of waiver needed ( Air Force Specialty Code (AFSC), Equipment, etc.) and complete justification on an AF Form 4169.
- Assist the primary cybersecurity technical advisor to the AO for DoD IS and PIT systems under their purview.
- Ensure that cybersecurity-related events or configuration changes that may impact DoD IS and PIT systems authorization or security posture are formally reported to the Base ISSM for routing to the AO and other affected parties.
- Ensure the secure configuration and approval of IT below the system level (i.e., products and IT services) in accordance with applicable guidance prior to acceptance into or connection to a DoD IS or PIT system.
