This position is a Combustion Engineer responsible for troubleshooting, improving and maintain the Combustion equipment and the controllers of the Furnace. Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for department wide overview of Furnace controls, Combustion control and Furnace Tuning for the Coating Area of Big River Steel. Work directly with all maintenance and operations personnel in a fast paced environment to help develop a safety focused and productive Coated Products Team and support electrical teammates to help maintain a positive and efficient work environment. Provide continuous improvement of operation and function of Furnace controls and the Assigned Process. Perform Failure Analysis for Furnace issues. Train others in the Coated Products area on the function and maintenance of the Furnace functions and controls. Support plant operations and work with the production/maintenance departments to help attain production goals. Qualifications: Demonstrated safety focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environment. Quality and detailed oriented with superior problem solving and communication skills. Highly Motivated, self-directed, hands-on approach, and willing to put in extra hours or on-call support. Minimum 5 years of experience in the metals industry. Experience with data analysis systems to perform troubleshooting. Knowledge about combustion principles. Knowledge about electronic transmitters. Electrical/Mechanical Bachelor degree or equivalent training/experience is required Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: Environment is typical for a Steel Mill Production Area, with extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty/greasy areas. Physically demanding work will be required in the production environments. Scheduled work hours are Day Shift Monday through Friday, however additional hours in a week will most likely be required. Supervisory Responsibility: This position does not supervise others.
