CNC Lathe Setup Machinist - LATHE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED - This is a Direct Hire opportunity with an innovative company. This is a day shift position paying $22- $32/hr.
We are looking for dependable, innovative candidates with the ability to Program, setup and operate CNC lathe machines in a productive and safe manner to produce parts that meet company quality requirements. As a level A machinist, a higher level of responsibility is required for meeting quality and productivity goals daily. You will be setting up and running Mazak lathes or Fortune lathes. Must have extensive experience setting these machines up. This position is for highly experienced and self-sufficient lathe machinists only. 4-6 years of experience required.
Responsibilities and duties include:
- Understanding of safety rules and regulations to prevent unsafe set-ups, operations, or acts which might cause injury to self, others, environment or equipment
- Must read and understand tooling requirements, operational layouts, job packets, CNC programs and blueprints for parts being run (including geometric tolerance). This includes understanding of dimensions and tolerances of finished
- Operate machines in the department, including select and align tooling, fixtures and attachments for machining
- Set-up and operate CNC machine on trial runoff new products and tooling to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data
- Creating a setup sheet, tool list, and picture library of the machined part for all employees to access and use for future operations
- Maintaining of 5S program and general organization of the work area and shop
- Make recommendations for trying new tooling, adjust tools and replace as needed
- Work with lead to maintain all tooling so that adequate supplies are in stock, organized and available when needed
- Consistently look for ways to improve a current process, make recommendations based on machining knowledge or seek outside resources to obtain further knowledge
- Perform basic maintenance of machines as required and keep supervisors informed of necessary maintenance beyond minimal operator ability
- Use of comparator, CMM, gages and related test instruments
- Perform necessary side operations during machine cycle time as required (ie, deburring)
- Provide peer training, coaching and assistance to other operators
- When coaching new staff members, ensure that the training and testing guidelines are Work with the lead to establish the training schedule for each new hire
- Be a go to person for machinists to obtain knowledge, additional training and guidance
- Take on the responsibility as back up lead when necessary
- Assisting with the DNC programming by sending, receiving and storing of data in the proper format and folders
- Assist in the establishment and recording of how many parts or pieces should be maintained by machinists for new jobs
Education or Certifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Combination of experience and education. 2 year degree in Machining Technology or CNC Machining trade and 4 years of years of CNC machining experience in turning or 6 years of CNC Machining experience in turning.
Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
- Able to lift, push or pull 25 pounds or more daily and over 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to make decisions with very little or no guidance or
