CNC Operator - Wood Shop

Position Overview:
The CNC Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines in the wood shop. They will work with various wood materials to produce precision-cut components according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of CNC machinery, woodworking techniques, and safety protocols.
In addition to CNC machine operation, you will also be integral in supporting the operation of other machinery within the plant and performing diverse tasks throughout the facility. The company operates as a close-knit team, where everyone collaborates to achieve the production objectives. Flexibility is key, as you will be called upon to assist in various areas as needed. Additionally, you will also operate machinery such as the edge bander and Computerized Saw.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Set up CNC machines according to job specifications, including loading materials and selecting appropriate tools.
2. Operate CNC machines to cut, shape, and carve wood components with precision and efficiency.
3. Monitor several machine operations, making adjustments as needed to ensure the quality and accuracy of finished products.
4. Perform routine maintenance on CNC machines, including cleaning and lubricating.
5. Inspect finished pieces for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards and customer requirements.
6. Troubleshoot issues with CNC machines and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
7. Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment at all times.
8. Collaborate with team members, including designers and production staff, to optimize workflow and achieve production goals.
9. Maintain accurate records of production activities, including job logs, inventory levels, and machine maintenance schedules.
10. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in CNC operations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a CNC Operator in a manufacturing environment. (wood shop preferred)
  • Proficiency in reading technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve CNC machine issues.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Knowledge of woodworking tools, materials, and techniques is an asset.
