Responsibilities
- 1st Responsibility - Ensuring personal safety and the safety of your team members.
- Assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Wears appropriate PPE which may include fall protection, respiratory protection, hearing protection, foot, hand, head and eye protection.
- Uses proper lifting and ergo techniques.
- Follows detailed job specific instructions to make sure castings are produced in the most efficient manner and to meet customer specifications.
- Reads blueprints to ensure parts are produced according to required tolerances and specifications.
- Reads process sheets, blueprints, dimensional specifications, set up, and operating requirements.
- Selects and applies proper tooling and control settings.
- Makes modifications to machine offsets as needed, to ensure the machined parts are within blueprint tolerances.
- Selects and installs tooling in tool posts, turrets or indexing heads, and automatic tool change magazine, in sequence specified on process sheet or program.
- Mounts workpiece between centers, in chuck, fixtures or to faceplate.
- Inspects first run piece and checks succeeding pieces for conformance to specifications.
- Studies job packet and organizes materials for next run during automatic controlled cycles to shorten changeover time.
- Disposes of scrap or waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations.
- Separates scrap waste and related materials for reuse, recycling, or disposal.
- Maintains machine tools in proper operational condition.

Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED preferred.
- Machining Tool Technology degree or certification preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Knowledge of shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
- Working knowledge of mills, lathes, and turning equipment.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
