Position: CNC Field Service Technician (FST)
Location: Remote (Primary Residence) and Manufacturing Customer Locations
Job Description:
Minimum of 5-8 years as a FST working on CNC machine tool equipment and options.
Strong proficiency troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing CNC machine tool servo systems (drives, motors, encoders etc.).
Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and CNC machine control systems and components.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills with the ability to read, understand and apply schematic diagram knowledge to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical system issues at the component level.
Proficiency with Windows based computer systems (applications, file storage and transfer, Microsoft Office).
Strong Understanding of machine tool geometric precision and accuracy.

Electrical Systems:
Proficiency in low and high voltage electrical systems.
Training and knowledge of electrical safety protocols.

Mechanical Skills:
Understanding of CNC machine mechanical components.
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues at the component level.
Knowledge of machine tool alignments and calibration.
Familiarity with different types of CNC lathes and CNC vertical machines.
Experience with 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machine tools.

Fluid Systems:
Proficiency in hydraulic systems and components.
Knowledge of pneumatic systems and their operations.
Understanding of coolant and lubrication systems and their maintenance.

Machine Control:
Strong understanding of CNC machine control systems.
Ability to interact with, program, and modify CNC machine controls.
Troubleshooting and diagnosing control-related issues.
Knowledge of different CNC control software and interfaces.

Tooling and Fixtures:
Knowledge of CNC machine tooling, including tool holders and cutting tools.
Familiarity with ATC and automatic pallet changing systems.

Preventive Maintenance:
Ability to perform routine and specialized maintenance tasks to ensure reliability.

Parts Replacement:
Proficiency researching and ordering replacement parts for CNC machines.

Troubleshooting:
Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex machine issues.
Analytical thinking to diagnose problems accurately and efficiently.

Communication and Documentation:
Effective communication skills for customer interactions and reporting.
Detailed documentation of service findings and repair activities.

Training:
Capability and willingness to mentor and train FSTs with less experience.
