Position Description:
Work Schedule: Full Time
Work Location: Prime Care, Gardendale Clinic

Under the supervision of the Nursing Supervisor/Manager and according to established policies and procedures, the Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care in the clinic. Helps assist physicians with patient care procedures. Works to provide direct and indirect patient care in a clinical area for specific age and patient populations. May do venipuncture. Helps organize, maintain and file patient charts. Leads/guides other technologists in their daily duties. Displays good rapport and professionalism with all customers

Position Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years of clinical experience as a Certified Medical Assistant within UAB Medicine Clinics. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performing simple medical and laboratory procedures and EKGs. (2) possess basic knowledge of PC applications, software, and database management.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR REGISTRATION:
Required:
CCMA Certification from the National Healthcare Association (NHA) or the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). If certified by another accrediting agency, NHA or AAMA certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
Current CPR certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
No disciplinary action (including verbal warning) within the last two (2) years.
Met or above on performance evaluation for the last two (2) years.
