Job Objective: A brief overview of the position. Performs, verifies and reports laboratory tests. Supervises and verifies work of non-licensed personnel. Performs Lab Assistant and Lab Technical Aide responsibilities as required. Provides appropriate education for staff and students. Reports to Assigned Supervisor Supervises Lab Technical Aides, Lab Assistants, and student technologists Ages of Patients Neonate/ Infant Pediatric Adolescent Adult Geriatric Blood Borne Pathogens High Potential Qualifications Education Required: CA approved equivalency of CLS Preferred: BS and 12 month internship at school of med technology Licensure/Certification Required: CA state license Preferred: ASCP or equivalent Experience Preferred: Cerner LIS experience Essential Responsibilities Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations. Orders and processes laboratory requests in accordance with established procedures within acceptable turnaround time Collects and processes all necessary paper work, assuring appropriate reporting Assists in ordering, maintaining, and restocking of supplies Recognizes critical test results and informs appropriate individual in a timely manner Utilizes Laboratory Information System as appropriate Determines specimen/control/patient result acceptability Performs proficiency testing as assigned Complies with hospital and Laboratory safety policies and procedures Complies with all State and federal regulations Maintains awareness of workflow utilizing various tools(Workcenter Pending, Cerner 911, 912, 123 as needed) to achieve optimal department test turnaround times for priority orders(STAT, Timed, Am Run, inpatient.) Performs or verifies quality control, validation, and calibration for instruments Performs instrument maintenance and troubleshooting as required Monitors and initials daily safety checks and temp logs Disinfects and maintains orderly/organized work environment Answers telephone and responds to questions or directs call to appropriate individual Properly endorses unfinished tasks or tests to the next shift Participates and assists in student lectures and training Supervises and verifies non-licensed personnel's work Demonstrates Microsoft Office computer skills Correlates cellular morphology with flow data Arrives at correct diagnosis and drafts summary interpretations in accordance with attained skill level Performs other duties as necessary Apply Now Share Job: Email Facebook Linkedin Eisenhower Health offers generous benefits package and matched retirement plan. 30 days after employment, employees are eligible to participate in a benefits program designed to make a difference for you and your family.
