Cloud Engineer

As a Cloud Engineer, you will be an integral part of the Commercial Professional Services team, dedicated to ensuring the successful delivery of customer-facing projects. You must be committed to delivering high-quality solutions that meet and exceed customer expectations. Working closely with Cloud Network Engineers, Cloud Architects, and other team members, you will utilize your expertise in AWS to design and implement solutions tailored to our clients' needs.

Required Skills:

3+ years of DevOps / SRE experience working in AWS environment(s) and supporting software development team(s) consisting of at least:

3+ year of experience developing AWS cloud infrastructure

1+ year of Terraform experience

1+ year of experience developing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub, and Azure DevOps

1+ year of experience creating automated alerts and monitoring dashboards

Working knowledge of leading AWS cloud security practices

Proficient in developing Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g.: Terraform / AWS CloudFormation)

Proficient in coding configuration management tooling (e.g.: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.)

Proficient in at least one or more programming / scripting languages (e.g.: Python, Java, Groovy, etc.)

Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall SDLC methodologies

Work with multiple clients, in parallel

Responsibilities:

Enabling AWS Utilization:

Develop secure and highly available Kubernetes clusters to support customer operations.

Recommend tools and capabilities based on thorough research and understanding of technical environments and business objectives.

Configure AWS cloud infrastructure for optimal technical and budgetary efficiency.

Identify, update, and verify the operational health of resized services to minimize cloud costs.

Infrastructure Implementation:

Utilize Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to create and manage AWS resources, including VPC, subnets, security groups, IAM users/groups, and auto-scaling configurations.

Implement and document development, pre-production, and production environments.

Advocate for an "as-code" first mindset, utilizing tools like AWS CloudFormation templates, Terraform, etc., to ensure sustainable infrastructure.

Developer Support:

Establish Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

Provide guidance to developers on AWS architecture and design principles.

Promote the use of Terraform or similar "as-code" tools to maintain infrastructure consistency.

Cloud Operations Visibility:

Utilize resource tagging for cost allocation and improved resource planning.

Assist in cost analysis based on expected usage and optimize cloud infrastructure accordingly.

Migration Support:

Aid in the development and implementation of migration plans, including capturing metrics, creating action plans, and executing migrations.

Support the migration of VMs using tools like Clumio, VMware HCX, Veeam, AWS CloudEndure.

Ensure successful migration of resources into AWS and decommissioning of on-premises resources.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

AWS certifications.

Experience with Terraform Enterprise, Hashicorp products, and container technologies.

Implementation of static and dynamic code analysis tools within CI/CD pipelines.

Use of code analysis tools such as AWS X-Ray, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, etc.
